How to select the perfect gift?

Gifts are a major part of any celebration on special occasions. They convey the warm message that the happiness is truly exciting and well-deserved. Gifts being very special need to be selected with care. Many people find this to be a daunting task but it need not be so always.
Here’s a small general guide on how to select that perfect gift for your loved one.
• Consider the relation and age
One of the foremost considerations is the age and your relation with the person being gifted. The gift articles will certainly be different depending on who you are gifting, your mother or your girlfriend.
• Decide the upper limit
The amount you are ready to spend is important because that will determine the gifts you can possibly buy within your budget.
• Occasion
You also need to consider the occasion on which the gift is to be presented. The gifts will differ according to the occasion. For example, a wedding gift will be grander than a birthday gift.
• Preferences and tastes
You need to think of the choices of the person being gifted, choices in color, style etc.
• Avoid delays
When you know that you need to buy a gift for a certain occasion, avoid delaying the purchase till the last minute. This may result in a harried purchase without any substance.
• Hobbies and interests
Consider hobbies and interests of an individual while buying them gifts. People like being appreciated for their hobbies or interests. It adds that little extra to the gift altogether.
• Do not make it a formality
In case you are gifting an acquaintance who is not close to you, try to buy something that is used by everybody irrespective of preferences, hobbies etc. Never buy something because you have to, this will reflect in the gift article purchased and your relationship with that individual will turn uncomfortable.
• Nature of the person
If you are on intimate terms with the person being gifted then surely you can buy something that complements his/ her nature.
• Consider the occupation of the person
You can also buy gifts based on the occupation of the person being gifted. For example, if your acquaintance is a professor then books seems to be a natural, but very good idea.
It is better to buy gifts that you think are either useful or are fancied by the person. This will avoid misunderstandings. Also a gift should be bought based on the proximity between the person and yourself. In case you are not too close to the person, it is better to buy gifts that are not very expensive but convey the right message about your relationship.
Choose a gift with care, gift the article with affection and you are sure to create a happy and strong relationship, be it with your friends, family or colleagues.
